During the krauser fight, it seems Leon and him have a past together. I heard nothing about him in RE 2. Is there some info i seem to be missing or is this sort of random an Capcom's side?

I don't know much and have not read this article, but I suppose it offers some answers: Krauser.

Leon and Krauser do have a history together - they may have been partners or something to that effect, but it was obviously a background story that was established after the creation of RE 2 and besides - it's kinda irrelevant to the storyline of RE 2 anyway. There is more detail about it in Darkside Chronicles though, I imagine.

Krauser first appeared in RE4, and we had no clue about how Leon met him until RE The Darkside Chronicles (recently launched). In RE:TDC's scenario "Operation Javier", we can see Leon's first (and last) mission with Krauser.

In the knife battle in re4 krauser greets him with saying "hello comrad" and then krauser asks leon if people where saying about krauser being in a car crash in 2002 in south america but really he went to work for wesker alongside with ada
